Africa & Worldwide: The founder, Nadia Eckhardt, and her excellent staff give pinpoint attention to each traveler's hopes and expectations and blend those into an exciting African experience. We have done five trips with Africa Easy. In each case, our guides were knowledgeable and courteous, accommodations were first class, and transportation arrangements between multiple sites were comfortable and safe. As two women traveling alone, we felt safe and secure in the hands of the local personnel assigned to our journey. This company has now branched out to destinations outside the African Continent as Expedition Easy.
They advertise, "for photographers who may not have the time to plan every detail of a photo trip, photographers who want a knowledgeable guide, and also photographers who might enjoy some instruction." Our trip to photograph wolves in Yellowstone NP proved to us that they are exacting in meeting their goals. Fun time and instructive for the experienced photographer as well as the person learning to use a smartphone.
From their website: "Apex Expeditions specializes in one-of-a-kind adventures to the world’s most fascinating places. We tread lightly and engage locally in small groups led by expert leaders who impart their knowledge and experience with passion."
Well said - and true. Excellent planning and execution of trips of a lifetime.
This company specializes in luxury in-depth cultural and educational small-group and private custom trips to Asia and the Pacific islands. The founders and staff are to the Pacific area what Africa Easy is to the African continent: knowledgeable of the region and well connected with competent, highly motivated, professional guides and lodging directors. Our travels with ATJ have included Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, Bali, and two tiger reserves in India. All were unqualified successes.
Alaska only. Come journey on a small boat owned and operated by David and Annette Janka to tour Prince Williams Sound. They take parties of 6 or less on one day or multi-day scientific research and/or pleasure excursions. They are a congenial couple. He's a careful and knowledgeable skipper and she's a great cook. This was a fabulous way to see the wilds and wildlife of that area of Alaska.
Birding Pal is a well established global website for traveling birders to contact locals who love to go bird-watching with visitors from around the world. You can find bird- watching information in the place you plan to travel and make arrangements for a volunteer to go with you for a few hours or contact a facilitator that can arrange a multi-day excursion. We took a 12 day trip to Costa Rica with a guide we contacted through this organization. All arrangements were spot on. And the price was amazingly frugal.
This company offers worldwide cultural tours and journeys. We have taken three extended complex trips with this company: Australia, India, and the North African countries of Morocco and Tunisia. Each was carefully planned to the last detail and brought off without a hitch. Excellent value for money.
Worldwide cruises and escorted tours geared towards, but not restricted to, those over the age of 50 who might enjoy a more leisurely pace than excursions with their sister company OAT. (See below). River cruises are right up their alley. We have greatly enjoyed their cruises on the Danube and the Elbe. Also easy on the pocketbook.
Enjoy worldwide exploration by expedition ship or on land in alliance with National Geographic Society. We have spent many happy hours on their fabulous expedition ships searching for birds, seals, and penguins in the Galapagos Islands, polar bears, and walrus in the Svalbard region of Norway, whales in the Sea of Cortez and orangutans in Borneo.
Our first adventure with this company was in 2017 to Churchill, Manitoba to see the white Beluga whales. Our recent photographic safari to Yellowstone and Teton National Parks was terrific! The company offers excellent trip pre-planning and exceptional responses to untoward changes in schedule (weather and washed out train tracks). We highly recommend this company.
Overseas Adventure Travel - (OAT)
Explore out of the way destinations with groups of not more than 16 for land travel and 16-25 for their small ship excursions. More vigorous than the itineraries planned by Grand Circle Travel (see above). With this company, we have taken a walking tour of the Cotswold area in England, a land tour of China and Tibet, a safari in South Africa and another in Kenya and Tanzania, a catamaran voyage through the Galapagos Islands, and an extensive tour of Egypt. Great value for money with guaranteed small-group escorted touring.
National, international and inner-city outings. Lodges and huts in California and outings "in your own backyard". We took a hiking trip to Nepal several years ago and had an exhausting, exhilarating experience.
This company plans guided and designed tours of the Camino de Santiago. We walked the French Way across the north of Spain with them in 2016. This was truly a trip of a lifetime. All efforts at comfort and safety were well planned and executed. Walk or bike the Camino with this excellent company.
Easy paced international travel - European river cruises, small ship, and cruise ship excursions, as well as land tours featuring group travel. We traveled with them up the Volga River from Moscow to St. Petersburg. Our river cruise on the Seine - round trip from Paris to Normandy and back - was filled with lovely scenery, interesting medieval history, heart-wrenching modern WWII history at Omaha Beach, excellent food, and time to enjoy Paris on both ends of the trip. Their Canadian Leaf Peeping cruise ship-trip was spectacular.
We have done three relaxing Caribbean cruises with Viking and are scheduled for a Netherlands river cruise this year. Beautiful small ships, great service, attentive staff, for adults only. Limited evening entertainment and no casinos.
This company offers small group land travels to international and national sites as well as expedition ships, yachts, and small ships, to explore the waters of the world. We were a group of four in Costa Rica for outstanding birding. We had great guides and wonderful accommodations on their Costa Rica Wildlife excursion. Great trip.
High-end adventure travel to exotic places on all seven continents. Expedition ship trips and land trips are offered. We have been on 13 trips with this company. On ship, we have been with them in Siberia, five major rivers of northern South America, the sub-Antarctic islands of New Zealand, Wild Britain Isles, circumnavigation of the Baltic and the Black Seas, seven countries of Africa's west coast, Western Australia (The Kimberly), and Malta and the circumnavigation of Sicily. Fabulous.
