Where?

How to decide where to pack each item

Pack #1"I can continue the trip without this item. If lost, I'll be able to buy another one when I get to my destination."

Check it or put it in the overhead space

Backpack or Roller Bag

  • Clothes

  • Toiletry Bag

  • Incidentals

Pack #2"This is too expensive to replace or vital to the success of my trip. Also, I'd like some clean clothes if my checked pack is lost by the airline. And these other things are what  I will want to use on the plane."

Carry-on - Store under the seat.

Small Backpack, Camera Bag or Duffle

  • Prescription Meds

  • Camera & Electrical  Kits

  • SOS Bag

  • Change of Clothes

  • Phone/Tablet

Pack #3 - "If these get lost, the trip's toast and it's going to be hard to get home."

Cargo pants pockets, waist pack or cross-shoulder bag

If you are all carry-on and the folks at the boarding area restrict you to two pieces, make sure these items can be quickly stuffed into Pack #1 or Pack #2 until you get to your seat.
